      <image:title>Biography of Pianist Judy Woo</image:title>
<image:caption>Growing up, I was fascinated by how music drew people together - whether it was practicing for my intergenerational extended family, performing in studio recitals, or accompanying my school musical. It was this idea of creating community through a shared language that inspired me to pursue music. A native of Vancouver, Canada, pianist Judy Woo has performed as a soloist at the ArtSpring Theater on Saltspring Island, the Orpheum Theater in Vancouver and at International House New York. A first place winner of the Canadian Music Competitions, her repertoire ranges from Corigliano, Louie and Bach to Schumann, Ligeti and Messiaen. She is a recipient of multiple awards and scholarships, including the Johann Strauss Foundation Award. An avid chamber musician, Judy Woo has collaborated in a piano trio, as a duo with clarinet, and with vocalists. She spent four summers as Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts. In performance, she sparks in audiences a fresh perspective on traditional repertoire, by pairing with new works and drawing unexpected connections. Committed to drawing new audiences, Judy Woo creates community through music.</image:caption>

<image:title>Biography of Arts Administrator Judy Woo - I believe music builds communities. I served as the Regional Leader for The Royal Conservatory of Music, the Director of the Geneva Conservatory of Manhattan and President of the Piano Teachers’ Congress. In all of these roles, I facilitated partnerships and relationships to enable communities more access to music.</image:title>
<image:caption>As the Regional Leader for the Royal Conservatory Music Program, Judy Woo presented over thirty-five teacher and parent workshops throughout the Tri-State region and presented at the MTNA national conferences as part of a national leadership team. Her role included opening examination centers at numerous music schools to give access to their local communities. The program continues to recognize parents, teachers and students at state and national levels at sold-out award concerts at Carnegie Hall annually. While serving as Director of Geneva Conservatory of Music in Manhattan, she spearheaded annual fundraiser concerts to increase scholarships, thereby doubling the enrollment within a year. As the former President of the Piano Teachers’ Congress New York, Judy Woo revitalized existing programs and expanded growth by being inclusive to the needs of a new generation of teachers. As a recipient of the Women in Leadership Award from International House New York, Judy Woo received ongoing mentoring on community engagement work from celebrated violinist Midori. Through her relationship with Midori, she was invited to attend her weekly studio classes, participate in interdisciplinary projects and attend board meetings for her foundation Midori and Friends; it became a personal mission to create access and opportunities for all communities and most importantly, realize the role of the artist citizen in our contemporary world.</image:caption>
